This Saturday, I will be presenting at the Western Branch meeting of the American Oriental Society. Western Branch always feels like going home, since it has evolved into a forum for a certain scholarly approach to early and medieval Chinese humanities, one to which I am an heir. This homecoming feeling is even stronger this year, since Western Branch is being held in Boulder, Colorado, where I did my M.A. I look forward to reuniting with so many of my teachers and former classmates.
I’ll be presenting an overview of one of my dissertation chapters, titled “What Is a Poet-monk?” Or, in Chinese, 所謂「詩僧」到底是啥？ It’s my first attempt to present some of my experiments in mapping before an audience, so I look forward to the feedback. Those interested in my work are welcome to contact me directly.
